They used to make fine tools (before the Second World War), but now poor unusably sell that scrap is a disgrace to their heritage. The casts are desperate, and the blades are much worse. No amount of filing or sanding will remove the chatter marks because the blades are too thin. Alloy blade will not hold an edge and chips any use. The button and the plastic bag are deplorable. Map of high quality woodVery high quality wood aircraft. Do not buy poor quality, you regret it and it will cost you more hours of work with a tool for poor quality.

This is the bladeAfter using both cheaper (big neck) and more expensive (lie nielsen) planes, I can honestly say that the most important indicator of how any airplane preform is the blade. I was able to produce as good (and bad) results of all three plans. But if forced to make a choice about prefernce, I gotta go with Stanley. The Great Neck Plane handels are a little too difficult to use for a long period of time and the chip breaker is a little fidgety. Li-Nielsen is good and the frog is easier to achieve, but these benefits do not influence the price difference and the blades are too thick. They take too much time to sharpen. Stanley is right on the line winner. Is it perfect?-No. You'll need to do some work (I had to turn the back of my chip breaker to fit tight against the blade), but when quality is placed against the pri

Take the time settingThe design of the tool is solid and time tested, and a bargain for the price. However, the only serious need running (thank you God, I have diamond plate) to remove a hollow behind the throat. The machining is very rough, but I think that makes it easy to read, which is hollow and check the progress of the splash. Almost every plane should be doubled and tuned before its first use, unless you have the money to fix the premium for the aircraft. I guess its for you but for me, two / three hours of initial development is more than the extra money for a ready to use the aircraft. The blade also need burnishing and light grind to remove a small cut. From there, it was micro bevel and perfect, as usual. Again, almost all need this aircraft out of the box, and I'm good with that, and still consider it a good deal.
