Great Cultivator

I am very pleased with this lil `unity. But you must understand that this is not a bar! If you have a large area and / or the need to widen to a significant depth, this is not the unit you want. I use this farmer for very small areas and turning over a few inches of dirt. It is very easy to handle because of its size and weight. It is ideal for making and trenching around the plant for the removal and transplantation. The real test will be how it stands up well to repeated use, but so far it has played to my expectations.

little culture!

I got it and assembly was a no-brain er. I worked the soil and turning the clods break the disc in my 8x8 "square foot garden. A is a breeze ... just follow the instructions in Quick Start. Looks like a good investment today at a fair price!

A major question that is not for everyone

I should have done more research before buying a grower / bar of my garden. We have very heavy clay soil on most of our yard. I know now that a farmer or bar would have the same problems and is really not the best thing for the clay-rich soil to begin. Clay is bonded to the blade (on a bar) and you end up with a "hardened" below whatever depth dug your bar. Even with a super heavy unit that could muscle through the clay, you better find ruining the soil to a certain extent, if you have a heavy clay soil. Otherwise, I think this product would have been an excellent investment for us.

In a few places where the soil is sandy grower this works very well. It is a bit noisy, but it is a solid product. It would be a great thing to have especially if you had already established flower and you have been digging in

Bad start design

Unfortunately, we did not research before buying, based on the name ... Troybilt I had in June 2008 - it is now mid-July 2008 and I've had in the shop 3 times for repair of the system startup. More recently, the repair shop completely replaced the boot system - I have chosen until Saturday, and I'm on my way back today (Wednesday) because - once again - the start line is not engaged and if it can not be started. When it works, it's great, light, something for my raised bed gardens. Unfortunately, reliability is very poor. Upon reading this comment, I see a number of others have had similar problems. Do not recommend this unit.

I love this stick

I worked my raised bed vegetable garden by shovel, rake and hoe in the last 10 years. Although each year I mix in compost, my clay soil is still too heavy and clumpy that I could not break the soil by hand. I finally decided, I leave the garden unless I had a bar. I chose the Troy-Bilt mini bar and I'm glad I did. It starts very well (after reading and following instructions). My ground is finally broken ground, such as consistency with the cluster working when I had to hand. The tillage depth as I wanted when I slowed to each section of the garden. As I had never used a bar, during my first use, I was walking through my garden at a pace fast enough and was surprised to see that the bar plowed such a depth. Then I read a review on how to slow down and let the bar do its job by digging in
