Do not waste your money

I am an owner who has installed a LOT of locks. When faced with a project to install 7, I thought this tool would at least remove some of the pain. It did not. With hindsight, all it did was make the easiest part of the closure of the door installation is easier than it already was. I used it during the first 2 locks, then put the box in garage sale.

The shape of the hole saws is neglected, and the tool is hiding the hole saw so you do not see where you are or where you're headed. It is easier and more accurate to mark the two points of drilling and drilling holes without a "guide" to preserve your right to drill for you.

The hole was provided on board drilling is 1. "That is fine if your call for a lock 1" hole in mine, but all have been very popular calling Schlage a 7 / 8 "hole.

Has a heavy task

I recently bought a house built in 1930, and the first thing we wanted to do was change the locks. When I removed the old lock from the door of solid wood, it is smaller than the diameter of standard locks today. But since the hole was already existing, it would have been difficult if not impossible, to center the drill bit to enlarge the well bore.

By using this template, I was able to line it perfectly. First, I aligned the small hole on the side of the door (which was the right size) and put small there is little to align it, close down, and boom! The biggest hole is perfectly aligned. All I had to do was drill.

All parts are solid and well made, and the track cut through the door, like butter. Clearly this tool has limited use - it does one thing. But the only thing he does, he is very, very well.

Need a separate mandrel for small holes bimetallic

I agree with chuck limitation. I can not separate the adapter from the mandrel and can not be used on small bi-metal hole saw. There is a single chuck adapter. Once I used the adapter on the mandrel largest bimetal hole saw, I could not separate the adapter to the chuck for small bimetal hole saw. To adapt to the great bimetal hole saw, you need the mandrel and the adapter. To adapt the small hole bitmetal seen, you need the adapter without mandrel. There is no hexagon around the adapter to make it easy to separate. It is also difficult to separate the core of the bimetallic take saw. You should buy a second chuck to use this product without agravante.

Satisfaction with a smile.

I have another unit which is more expensive than the installation kit door, but it is designed for wooden doors and not bi-metal.

I have a lot of DeWalt tools that I am very happy, and it was only natural for this selection.

This less-expensive tool allows me to use a unit as necessary.

Owner Jig good, but with the limitation Mandril

In general, I agree with the previous review.

Our house was older (50 + years) doors, and I used this to replace worn door handles (all mechanism).

As there was already a front-door (in the more standard, smaller size of 1 1 / 2 "), a structure is needed to properly break the 2 1 / 8" bore standard face ... you can not stabilize a hole saw mandrel without if one is in the air.

However, I also agree not to obtain a hole perfectly centered in our doors that are just under 1 3 / 4 "thick. But it is certainly more than enough. The error may be 1/16th of an inch can be corrected in the positioning of the strike in the door jamb.

This limitation is in the core: the larger threaded adapter for 2 1 / 8 "saw ROUND! It is not hex, so you can not remove
